About this portable closet
We built this one for rooms that have a closet rod but nowhere to put socks. Four deep drawers sit on back panels that stop them sagging, the rail above takes everyday shirts and jackets, and the whole unit rolls on rubber casters to the window, the bed or the laundry corner.
Drawers with backbone
Solid back panels hold each fabric drawer square, so a stack of sweaters slides out and back without catching on the frame.
Shelves you can move
Two shelves carry the drawers and two are free. Lift any of them a notch, or pull a drawer and fold it flat when a suitcase needs the room.
Rubber on the floor
Swivel casters with metal connectors roll quietly over hardwood and tile, and two of them lock once the closet is where you want it.
Snap and slide
Every joint is a sleeve that locks over the tube. The frame goes together by hand and comes apart the same way on moving day.
